Major-General C R Edwards yesterday purchased the 30 acre Dabney estate near the Dedham line in Westwood. The red brick colonial house with maple lined approach sits on a hill, surrounded by trees and a circular porch, with a stable, garage, summer house and caretaker’s cottage on the grounds. Estimated value ranges from $50,000 to $75,000. The property offers a broad view of the surrounding countryside.
General Edwards states at completion of the transaction that his greatest desire is to own a New England home rather than live in a rented apartment. The remark underscores his preference for ownership over leasing.
