Western range cattle pool traffic split announced

The Western range railroads failed to agree on cargo division for July to September 1886. Commissioner Faithorn announced new percentages: Chicago & North Western 66, Darlington 16, Rock Island 12? percent, Milwaukee & St Paul 10?1 percent, and Wabash 3 percent. The award favors Northwestern and Union Pacific connections, sparking criticism from Rock Island, St Paul, and Wabash. Union Pacific loses share to Northwestern after network extensions. future line contracts may rebalance traffic.
