Cunningham in Court Arraigned for Embezzling Mail Money

John F. Cunningham was arraigned before Commissioner Hallett on embezzlement charges for taking money from a letter intended for farmer Thomas Day of Woburn. Held on $1000 bond for examination Saturday. He had worked for Day, was discharged for bad habits, then allegedly opened Day’s letter after stealing it and spent the funds. He traveled to Leston, Gardner, and was captured by Deputy Marshal Gallonose and returned to Boston. A separate note mentions a man named Canoe breaking into a Malden building and stealing from a keg of powder, leading to a six month stay in the house of correction.

Massachusetts Woman Suffrage Festival Opens In Meionaon

The Massachusetts Woman Suffrage Association opened its season with a Meionaon event and announced a bazaar to aid State work set for December 13 and 19 in Music and Bumstead halls. Discussed also was the Middlesex and Suffolk convention in Cambridge on October 22 to organize a Cambridge suffrage movement and engage Harvard students. Speakers included Rev Ada C Bowles, Charles E Endicott, William Bowditch, Rev Fulda Israel, S Urbins, and Lucy A Stone.

Funeral of William K Leach Held in Jamaica Plain

The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the family home on Gordon Street Jamaica Plain with Rev Dole of the Jamaica Plain Unitarian Church officiating. Floral tributes included a lyre harp an ivy leaf wreath and a cast wreath. Interment followed in Forest Hill Cemetery family lot.
