General William Cogswell Captures Seventh District Nomination

Peasopy September 80 General William Cogswell of Salem was nominated on the twenty seventh ballot for Representative to Congress from the seventh district. The tally showed Cogswell 58 Blunt 55 Haskell 1 Babson 1 with 115 votes total. A committee notified him and the nomination was made unanimous at the convention.

New Presbyterian Church Forms in Local Commission Service

The Boston Presbytery commission organized a new Presbyterian society in Highland Hall after months of worship. Rev. J L Scott of East Boston led devotions and Rev. A Burrows of South Boston preached. Ruling elders Gilchrist Crow Brown and Peterkin were ordained. A communion service was donated by South Boston church.
