In Kowhegan Maine Albert Hurd a young man was arrested on suspicion of incendiarism linked to recent fires. His brother previously served four years in reform school for arson at the town farm buildings. He had a preliminary examination in Farmington this afternoon. No new fires reported since Sunday.
A west bound passenger train on the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul line was struck by a wild freight at Ixonia station last evening. A dining car sleeper and twenty six freight cars were demolished. Frank E Morrill of Farmington Falls Maine aged 26 years was crushed to death while on a Western trip with his twin brother.

Loss about five thousand nine hundred dollars insured. Suspected incendiary. In Carver E C Baughn’s house barn and outbuildings with contents destroyed by fire early today. Loss around three thousand dollars insured for two thousand.
The steamer Suffolk lies a total wreck at Lizard Point. Cargo is washing ashore with wreckers rescuing goods. about 3000 bags of cargo have been saved.
At 11 o clock Chairman Gould of the State committee and a slate including Secretary Southworth Dr F L Bearden Assistant Secretary Paige ex Senator Randall of New Bedford and others moved into the platform for the convention. Shepard of Lynn moved to appoint officers and the motion carried. A prayer was offered by a misnamed Rev leading to light applause for Governor Robinson. Committees on credenths permanent organization resolutions and ballots were formed and operated smoothly. Hobart of Biamtres urged Senators and Representatives to take seats on the platform but they were absent while State committeemen occupied the front. A motion by William Bradjee of Milton directed all resolutions to the resolutions committee without debate. Rufus Frost of Chelsea then presented the anti saloon conference preamble and resolution, which were referred as instructed.
The committee on credentials reported 315 towns and 23 cities represented by 1127 delegates. The committee on permanent organization outlined its paper backed leadership with Mr. Lodge as president and Dawes Hoar and Long as top officers. Vice-presidents at large included Charles H. Allen, William W. Rice, Ambrose A. Ranney, Edwin D. Hayden, von F. Stone, William Whiting, and Robert.
