Beaux and Belles Attend Berkeley Hall Reception for Bachelors Club

Berkeley Hall hosted a Bachelors' Club reception drawing about 200 couples with Mullally's Orchestra providing music. Caledonian Ball Draws Big Crowd at Copley Hall

The third annual Caledonian Maritime Provincial Club ball drew about 800 guests at Copley Hall, 194 Clarendon Street. An 8 to 8:30 promenade concert opened, followed by a grand march led by president Mr. McPherson and wife. Stone's Orchestra provided music as guests enjoyed a late supper and dancing continued past midnight. Key attendees included J A McPherson, J A Gillis, and Dr. Alexander McDonald among many others.

Germania Association Reopens Hall After Relocation

The Germania Association, a 300 member group, moved its hall at 24 Pynchon street rearward to save the building after Columbus avenue expansion. Trustees Tondorf Wessling and Baler bought the rear lot, enabling remodeling and reopening Miglix last night with about 500 attendees enjoying food and drink. An operetta titled Sauline was performed.

Paris reports the death of author Alexandre Dumas at 8 pm after a brief rally earlier in the evening. He showed strength to lift tea to his lips, then suffered a nervous convulsion and died suddenly with many relatives at his bedside.

Bus party escapes bridge crash near Whately

A bus carrying nineteen youths from Williamsburg and Heydenville bound for a South Deerfield dance went through a Mill River bridge at Whately on November 27. All occupants were saved though four horses aboard the vehicle drowned.

Witham Is Dead in Malden After Maine Return

Charles E. Witham of Boothbay Harbor Maine, the man who shot and killed Dr. Farnsworth of Boston in Malden last spring, died today after a yearlong illness. An indictment for manslaughter had been found and he was to be tried in Cambridge this term. He had gone to Maine for health reasons three months ago. funeral arrangements will follow in Boothbay Harbor.
