Knights of Labor denounces McKinley and trusts policy

The Knights of Labor at Faneuil Hall condemned McKinley's foreign policy and the use of troops to break up labor meetings. New Associate Pastor for Every Day Church

The Rev. Thomas B. Payne of Westbrook Maine has been named associate pastor of the Every Day Church in this city. Born in Towanda Pennsylvania in 1964 he is 36. He studied at Susquehanna Collegiate Institute Tufts Theological School and Tufts College of Letters. He married Clara Anna Robinson in 1891 and they have two children Margaret eight and Thomas Buston Jr four.

Police Reform Debate Spurs Order on Prisoner Treatment

At a Boston Common Council meeting the council referred an order to curb brutal police treatment of prisoners to the ordinances committee. The Board of Estimate and Apportionment authorized 650 dollars to pave Devonshire Street between State and Water. Alderman Doyle's pay-rate order for laborers at 2.25 dollars a day passed unanimously. Ward 12 representative Chamberlain urged the mayor to petition for a midway passenger station for the Boston Elevated Railroad between Northampton and Dover streets on Washington Street.

Texas at Gloucester moves to Kentucky carrier plans
