Two Beautiful Women to Christen the Blakely and De Long

Two torpedo boats named Blakely and De Long at George Lawley Sons yard in South Boston to be launched this morning. Miss Nellie White of Winchendon christens Blakely, a descendant of Captain Blakely, while Mrs Laura De Long Mins breaks a champagne bottle on De Long. Attending officials and decorations noted as launches proceed before the tide.

Mayor Hart backs Dore for street commissioner

The Republican sub committee at the American House chose John P. Dore, despite opposition, to meet Mayor Hart’s wish. Hart pressed Jess M. Gove to back Dore, arguing it would be a prudent move. The vote passed with few dissenters as Hart’s influence carried the outcome.

Independent candidate challenges South Boston ward race

D J Kinnally declares as independent candidate for alderman in wards 14 and 15 against Alderman Norton after losing Democratic caucuses by 23 votes.
