Tug Nathaniel P. Doane Tows Coal Schooner Out of Shore Channel

Captain Roger Sears aboard the tug Nathaniel P. Doane towed the five masted schooner Nathaniel T. Palmer with about 4400 tons of Newport News coal to an anchorage off the Grand Junction piers in East Boston. The Palmer drew nearly 2 feet of water yet floated later the same day.

A November cloud burst and gale struck Henniker between 4 and 4:30 p m. Walter Hammell was crushed by a falling tree and died. The wind also toppled frail structures across the area.
