New Cruisers Fail Height Test at New York Yard
Navy officers from the New York yard reviewing the Pennsylvania and sister ships Colorado and West Virginia find the bow heights too low to handle heavy head seas at high speed. Despite this, officers praise the new cruisers overall. The Pennsylvania remains at the yard until repairs and coaling are completed, then sails to Boston for an inspection board.
