In a daring operation off Tache Bay, Russian forces torpedoed and sunk a four-funneled Japanese torpedo boat destroyer. Midshipman Dimitrieff conceived the plan to strike under cover of darkness as Japanese minesweepers worked nearby, highlighting audacity and timing as key factors in the victory.

The Brigham had left Gloucester for Boothbay for bait and was near Portland Lightship when collision occurred. Two dories were launched as the vessel settled. Daly is listed in the Boston directory as a fisherman at 89 Liverpool Street East Boston.
Joseph C. Pelletier state deputy Knights of Columbus states there is no charge or complaint concerning his administration and urges the reelection of Charles who has served as street commissioner ably and honestly for conscientious public service.

The schooners Lillian and July Fourth collided off Cape Ann at about 1 am. Lillian’s deck was torn and she sank near the rail. July Fourth lost bowsprit and shrouds with minor damage. Captain Daniel Norwood of Lillian reports the incident. both vessels suffered substantial damage and crew injuries were feared.
Advices from the Carolina coast report the New Inlet life saving station destroyed by Sunday’s hurricane and several crew members lost. A tidal wave swept the land separating the ocean from the sound, carrying away the station building. Seamen brought the news to Elizabeth City, with communication severed below Pea Island and no confirmation tonight.
A Rockport fishing schooner named General Hancock ran onto rocks near the harbor entrance after dark and will be a total loss. The four crew members reached shore via rope lines amid heavy surf. The vessel was valued at $1000 and insured.
In a Boston interview Mr. B P Mullen recalls Father John O'Brien of Towell gave his mother the first bottle of Father John's Medicine used in the family. Since then the medicine has been relied on for colds and lung troubles.
