Italian forces maintain firm line along the Piave as Austro German attempts to cross are repelled. Berlin reports gains north of the front while Italians appear to withdraw from Asiago salient and fortify a shorter front east of the town.
Northcliffe warns Lloyd George that Britain must cease blunders and get to work. He declares that if Great Britain does not act, the United States will assume control of the war and manage efforts from abroad, urging immediate action and focus.
American patrols again clashed with German forces in No Man's Land. Last night saw several engagements but darkness and rain kept the fighting at a distance, and there were no American casualties.
German forces placed machine guns in craters and fired on American communicating trenches while U S artillery responded with 75mm shells. Casualties include several infantrymen wounded or killed as shelling continued day and night.

Former French premier Clemenceau has agreed to form a new cabinet. He stayed at the Elysee Palace with President Poincare for over an hour before the announcement that he accepted the mission to form the government.
Clemenceau said on leaving the palace he would act quickly and rationally, needing about 48 hours to examine matters and provide first exact information by tomorrow evening. The Radical and Radical Socialist Senate group urged best qualified men for office, regardless of party, with a similar stance in the chamber after a sharp discussion.
In New Bedford on November 15 Philip A. Beaudreau shot and killed his wife Helen after she refused to accompany him. He then wounded himself with a revolver. Eyewitnesses said the tragedy followed their separation and she was a drug store cashier.
Delegates of the local joint council of building trades in Greater Boston and Quincy again refuse the AFL appeal to end strikes on government work at Quincy Squantum and Watertown Arsenal until definite guarantees that open shop conditions at Watertown Arsenal and Squantum are eliminated are provided. Frank H. McCarthy of New England submits the request to Gompers.
Reports from travellers arriving at the Russo-Swedish frontier say about 2000 people had been killed in street fighting in Moscow up to noon Tuesday. The figures were forwarded by press dispatches from Stockholm and summarize the latest casualties amid ongoing turmoil in the city.
The A F of L organizer urged delegates to resume work during a pending conference between President Wilson and international officers to settle open shop disputes. A Watertown Arsenal worker said no lasting adjustment had been made, and the strike continued after a vote by delegates. The Greater Boston Carpenters' District Council also backed a continued strike until fair conditions are set.
