Provincetown Seaman Rescued After Wreck Near Highland Light

Six crew of the three masted schooner Snare, including Captain Lawson, were saved by the Provincetown trawler Joseph P. Johnson after a perilous night at sea. The craft left St John Saturday, encountered a furious gale and snow, lost sails and masts, and sank to a debris-laden wreck. The Johnson’s dories carried six to safety, with three men nearly dead from exposure, now recovering aboard.

Sixteen crew of the wrecked fishing schooner Alice Jacobs from Queenstown claim harsh treatment by Consul Sweeney who allegedly refused transport to Queenstown. Irish Historical Association Holds Quarterly Meeting at Bellevue

The Irish Historical Association met at Hotel Bellevue with 1% attendance. Hon. Thomas J. Gargan presided as papers on Men of Irish Blood in American Journalism were read by M. B. Hennesey. Panama seeks annexation by United States

Panama, a state of the Colombia confederacy, has asked to be annexed to the United States. It appears to have severed ties with Colombia though independence remains unacknowledged. Panama maintains separate stamps and coinage and asks for U.S. support amid canal prospects. Our State Department has not acted and regards Panama as part of Colombia under international law.

Trial of Molineux for Adams death continues with juror challenges

In New York on November 15 Recorder Goff oversaw continued jury selection in the murder case of Roland B. Molineux. Forty six talesmen were examined with no juror chosen as counsel pressed definitions and hypotheticals. Peremptory challenges followed, as several potential jurors were excused for religious, health, language, or circumstantial evidence concerns.
