Golden Wedding Celebration for Littlefield Couple in Chelsea

The American line steamer St. Louis reached its dock after storms delayed the voyage. Passengers included William Brown and Patrick Roche, rescued after drifting two days without water or provisions from the fishing schooner Marshall L Adams off Cape Cod. The steam er Hartford of the Hartford and New York Transportation Company was driven aground on a shoal near Higganum while traveling up the Connecticut River. Passengers were ferried by small boats and later moved by railroad to Hartford after the vessel was towed to her dock in a slightly disabled condition.
