A campaign vehicle for Joseph C. Pelletier was struck by an auto truck on Norfolk Street near Blue Hill Avenue Dorchester killing one man and injuring another. The machine overturned trapping both men beneath it while the driver escaped injury.
John J. Burke, 30, of 5 Blaine avenue Allston died at City Hospital at 10 30 after a car crash. He suffered a fractured skull and scalp laceration nearly torn from his head. The piece notes Pelletier was not a member of the flying squadron and was moving between rallies.
Samuel P. Ware a Boston steeple jack was saved yesterday noon from the top of a 110 foot smokestack at the Woburn Degreasing Company by Lieutenant Daniel Kerrigan of the Woburn fire department.
Ware fell 15 feet inside the massive chimney while repairing its top when poisoned gas fumes from the fire below hampered him. Assistant George McCann attempted rescues as Lt. Daniel Kerrigan climbed to Ware, securing a rope and pulling him to the crown. Both men, aided by water and stimulants, revived Ware and brought him down for hospital care.

About 30 branched survivors from the Reilly Coal Company mine lie on cots in the Miners' Hospital awaiting news as 94 workers entered the mine this morning and a terrific explosion occurred. Most survivors are young men, and the community watches the entrance to the big room for further developments.

Morgan Gardner Bulkeley, longtime Hartford political figure and head of Aetna Life Insurance since 1879, served as Hartford mayor from 1880 to 1888, Connecticut governor 1889 to 1893, and U S senator 1905 to 1911. He died at his home in Hartford after a prolonged illness.
Wakefield firemen raced to a box alarm last night with Chief Fred J. Graham in command. On turning a corner the chief discovered his own house was on fire on the roof at Pleasant Street and Highland Avenue. Damage totaled about 1000 with cause unknown.
Mrs. Charles A. Moore of Greenwich Connecticut wife of a New York broker reported to Back Bay police that a valuable diamond ring valued at $9000 was lost or stolen from a jewel collection she had with her at a Boston hotel. She registered there last Friday and notified hotel officials after leaving yesterday noon.

In New Bedford Eddie O Dowd defeated Billy Mascott in ten. In Lawrence Al Shubert beat Billy Fitzsimmons in ten. Harvard’s Jack Keahane and Boston College’s OConnell out with injuries. Coach Fisher names Holder and Jenkins as wingmen.
