A former emperor Kaiser Wilhelm is reported to have wed in a pompous ceremony. The event drew attention across Europe as details of the marriage emerged amid ongoing postwar tension and shifting royal dynamics.
The former German emperor Wilhelm II and Princess Hermine of Reuss married at Doorn House. A civil contract and a subsequent religious ceremony were conducted in the presence of members from his former family.
