Lodge elected president of Harvard Association alumni group

Senator Henry Cabot Lodge yesterday was elected president of the Harvard Association to succeed Dean Le Russell Briggs. Lodge, a Harvard graduate, earned LL B in 1874 Ph D in 1875 and another degree in 1905. He serves on the ad board of overseers. Francis R. Appleton and Marcus G. Sloss were elected vice presidents.

Grange Convention Opens in Chester New Hampshire

National Grange officials announced the three day convention in Chester will begin tonight. Secretary of Agriculture David Franklin Haus will be in Manchester Friday next week and speak at a Grange meeting that evening.

Wakefield Man Killed by Auto on North Avenue

Charles P. Rosson, 77, of 19 Lowell Street Wakefield, was run over and killed instantly at 6:15 p.m. while crossing North Avenue in front of the Wakefield station by an auto truck from Werner Company of Boston. The driver Leander P. Dickie of 73 Cushing Avenue Dorchester was arrested and held on a manslaughter charge.

Wakefield man killed by auto in dark street crossing

Rosson, longtime Quannapowitt Grove figure and Wakefield resident, was struck on North avenue as he crossed diagonally after alighting from a Boston train. He died instantly from a crushed skull and a broken leg. Driver Dickie, speed about 10 mph, says he did not see Rosson until too late. Dickie and Harrington to Boston for merchandise delivery. Dickie arrested for manslaughter. Rosson leaves two daughters, Mrs Cade and Mrs Bayce.

French Bulldog Club Opens Show With 316 Contestants

The French Bulldog Club of New England opened its annual show in Horticultural Hall with 316 entries, a record for the country.
