Three NYC confidence men arrested by Atlantic wharf

Inspectors Wise and Tryder of police headquarters arrested three well known confidence men near the Yarmouth Steamship Company wharf on Atlantic avenue. James D. Mack 56 Stephen Clark 62 and George Wilson 48 all of New York have long records and preyed on fishermen at the wharves. The arrest followed a tussle on a complaint by Arthur Vincell Gloucester fisherman who was buncoed out of twenty dollars.

Palace plans for crown prince of Japan in Tacoma

T. Katayama, architect-in-chief of the imperial household, visits Tacoma on return from the East where he arranged contracts for materials and equipment for a grand palace for the crown prince. He states materials alone will cost $600,000 and recent contracts total $2,000,000 for the Japanese government.

Friends Honor Dr Daniel J O Shea Before Move to Amesbury

A gathering at Dr Daniel J O Shea’s East Boston home on Chelsea Street celebrated his departure to open an Amesbury office. Friends presented a desk chair chiffoniere bookcase and a substantial check while speakers praised his future. Musical and literary performances followed with thanks to contributors from among fifty attendees.

Roberts Sentenced for Life in Second Degree Murder

Lawrence Nov 8 John Roberts pled guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to life in State Prison. He shot and killed Maria Letcher a mill operative with whom he was flying on March 4.

Conference of Mormon Elders Meeting in Boston

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will hold a conference of the New England branch of the Eastern States mission at Guild Hall 114 Dudley street beginning at 10 a m Sunday. Public meetings will also be held at 10 a m 2 and 7 p m Sunday and 7 p Monday. About thirty Utah elders will attend. Seats free.
