Sunday seizures and liquor seizures in Roxbury area

Officers from Division 10 seized 234 gallons of Jager beer at 264 Pynchon Street Roxbury and searched 10 Adams Place and 23 Leons Street yielding small seizures. Division 6 arrested Mary Fitzpatrick 82 at 11 A street for alleged illegal liquor sale and seized five gallons of whiskey. Carsie Malone 38 of 10 Broadway arrested for similar charge and a quart plus 2-1/2 gallons of whiskey seized.

Alleged Highwayman Caught After Attempted Robbery

Patrick J. McDonald of 1085 Washington Street and William H. Skinner of Dorchester are under arrest at Lagrange Street station on charges of attempted highway robbery. They allegedly held up Charles F. Hoffman of 7 Harrison Avenue on Harrison Avenue near Harvard Street at 11 o'clock last night, attempting to take his watch and money. Hoffman's cries drew an officer, leading to the arrest.

Walcott Ordered to Answer Assault Charge in Malden

In Malden on November 3, Joseph N. Walcott the colored boxer was summoned to appear in district court Tuesday to face a charge of assault and battery against George Henderson, a sewer laborer. The incident followed a dog fight started by 13 year old Charles Durgin. Henderson allegedly kicked Walcott’s dog, Walcott confronted him, and a scuffle ensued with Henderson badly treated until Durgin threw a stone, injuring Henderson’s head requiring stitches.

Fire alarms and injuries in city incidents

City firefighting units responded to a hotel fire at the Hotel Austerfield on Massachusetts Avenue with a sight fire quickly controlled and no damage reported. A Boston man, Robert Hamilton, was injured when knocked down by a streetcar at Berkely and Tremont streets, fracturing both bones in his left leg. Patrolmen Harry Burns and Hagsett raided the Riverside house on Cambridge Street Brighton amid rumors of a major craps game. A dozen colored men fled as officers entered. three were captured after leaping from a window three stories high. The trio captured were Charles Ford, 30, white. In Newport Rhode Island on November 8 the schooner Harriet M Blackman loaded with 200 tons of coal for Perry Bros rode near Castle Hill Light in a dead calm. The tide drove her toward rocks as anchors failed and she slipped her chains to ride off shore once the breeze picked up.
