The Garfield memorial in Lake View Cemetery was dedicated with a presidential presence and extensive ceremonies. Crowds lined Euclid Avenue as a five mile parade preceded the dedication, honoring Garfield with a powerful oration by Jacob D. Cox and remarks by President Harrison. The colossal 165 foot structure cost about 150000 dollars with half from Cleveland residents and the rest from states territories and foreign lands.
