Longwood club defeated by Manhattan in all day Brooklyn match

The Longwood club lost on their ground to the Manhattan club of Brooklyn in a day long cricket match. Poor wicket and sun-dried conditions favored bowlers as Longwoods scored 49 in their first innings with L Mansfield carrying his bat for 23 while Manhattan’s Chambers and Wright shone. In the second innings Tyers’ bowling dominated, but Coyne and Cobb steadied the chase, enabling Manhattan to win by seven wickets as L Mansfield and others contributed modestly.
