In front of about 6000 at League Park St Louis overcame jeers and a slow start to top Boston 9 4. McKean Heathrick and Wallace provided spark while Tebeau returned to first base boosting the lineup. Criger Longest Tenney and Blake contributed key hits as St Louis led throughout and won the game.
The Cleveland team benefited from timely hitting as the Senators errred in the field. The game ended with a decisive score that highlighted the home team's advantage in a day of miscues by the visitors.

New York May 23 Kid McPartland defeated Spike Sullivan after a 25 round battle at the Lenox Athletic Club. McPartland led throughout delivering severe punishment while Sullivan showed strong recuperative power and fought with evident grudge.
In a Queensberry contest from the club house arena McPartland wins on the left arm dominance as Sullivan bleeds from cuts and punches. Referee Charley White keeps pace with the ferocious exchange as both fighters fight through nine rounds with heavy clinching and bruising.
In a lengthy middleweight contest Sullivan pushed McPartland across the ring, nearly winning in rounds twenty three and twenty four, but McPartland stayed ahead much of the time. Earlier Patsey Sweeney beat Bob Gorm ley, and Couhig defeated McCarthy at Dunkirk A C in a separate 123 pound bout.

Wollaston Golf Club is defeated 14 to 18 by Harvard in a season highlight. Smith led Wollaston with a late attempt to tie. Curtis extinguished it with precise putting. Harvard’s Richardson set a nine hole record of 37, while Burden Francis Wadsworth and others shot sub-39 rounds on firm greens.
A severe explosion at the Copenhagen military laboratory killed seven workers and wounded a non commissioned officer and two others. The laboratory was destroyed.
