Union leaders accuse Governor Foss and plant owners of the Sturtevant Blower Company and Becker Milling Machine Company in Hyde Park of refusing wage concessions and arbitration. Workers had planned a strike but postponed to seek talks with Foss and other owners.
A mass meeting at French's Hall Hyde Park will hear reports and let employees decide action. A committee met Governor Foss Tuesday to convey requests. Unions in Boston issued a statement noting long unrest among Sturtevant Blower Works and Becker Milling Machine workers over low wage rates and limited attention from Foss.
The Wil mington Selectmen issue an ultimatum forbidding scantily clad bathers on Silver Lake beaches this season. They note past Sunday relaxations and the popularity of decollete suits among resortgoers, despite protests by the girls who say tanning requires such attire.
