Home Missions Elects Officers in Fall River Meeting

At the Massachusetts Home Missionary Society annual session in Fall River on May 20, officers were elected led by President Franklin Carter with a large executive slate. The treasurer reported 1896 year cash payments of $170,145 and April 1 balance of $3,183.

They began collecting paper and refuse, improving street appearances near the schools. Hubbard will soon organize the effort with designated streets, foremen, and assigned tasks for the boys.

Wife Murder in Wheelock Ends in Jail for Mar shal Way

In Wheelock Vermont last evening marshal Way killed his wife after a property dispute over custody of their eight year old daughter. The wife had hired lawyer Gleason to obtain a property division. A quarrel followed, and Way struck her with a sawhorse club. Isaac A Gray halted further mutilation as Way, proprietor of the village hotel, is detained in county jail.

Assisted His Chum Aided Escape Case In Chelsea

Hugh O Neil was arraigned in the Chelsea Police Court on aiding a criminal to escape. The alleged criminal Patrick Cleary is accused of assulting Norah O Neil on April 19. Chief Drury testified that O Neil confessed they were chums and he would help Cleary. The court reserved its decision.

Stone Hunters Inspect City Boundaries In Carriage Tour

A city committee led by Aldermen John H. Lee David F. Barry and Charles H. Bryant with City Engineer Jackson Chief Surveyor Morrison and City Clerk Galvin began a boundary inspection.
