WRECKING WINDS Rake Missouri Towns in Tornado Outbreak

A Missouri storm season floods and wrecks churches and homes from Eldon to Versailles. The Eldon Congregational and Methodist Episcopal churches burned to kindling, the Christian Church spire blew off, houses of J H Swan Samuel Brickey and Rev David McComb were destroyed, wires down, Lebanon branch track washed out, and several bridges washed away. Versailles resident James Anthony drowned crossing a creek, Mrs. J D Earhardt died from fright as the storm raged across western and southern Missouri.

Train Crash Follows Near Curve on Charlestown Neck Tracks

Shortly after 6 last evening a freight train collided with another on the Grand Junction lines at Charlestown Neck. Conductor Morton’s train could not stop in time, the engine crashed into the rear car, fire ignited cotton waste in the caboose, but the blaze was extinguished with no damage. Loss pegged at about 250 dollars.
