A blaze in a three and a half story boarding house on Spruce Street shortly after 2 AM caused Francesco Masucci to suffocate and Michaele Ht ct to be rescued with severe injuries. Firemen prevented further deaths by quick action though the building had a single narrow exit. Detectives hunt the incendiary believed to have doused a gallon of kerosene and lit a match amid sixteen occupants. A separate fire on Federal Hill at James Trainer's coal and wood yard was set by an unknown person at about 2:30 AM. Michael Ricci, burned in the Spruce Street fire, later died at Rhode Island Hospital.

Jump To Death In Tenement Roof Fall
A South Boston youth, John Lee, four, died after falling or jumping from the roof of tenement No 4 B street. Edison Light Company employee John J Mahoney saw the body at 9 pm and alerted police. Dr Young failed to save him. the fall fractured the base of the skull. Police deem it self inflicted. Undertaker ODonnell and Medical Examiner Draper were notified.
