Boston Teachers Demand Salary Clause in State Bill

A Boston Elementary Teachers Association committee gathered at the Touraine and issued a statement criticizing Governor Foss for hesitating to sign House 1838. They argue the bill’s mandatory 20 cent clause should fund teacher salaries and protest the lack of ample appropriations, urging the Legislature to uphold their request and noting support from officials and the public. The statement names Annie W. Leonard and others as leaders and condemns the governor’s stance as unjust.
