Royal train narrowly escapes Austrian air attack near Padua
As the royal train neared Venice it was pursued by Austrian planes whose crews had been warned of the royal presence. Dark railway sections and near misses caused bombs to crack telegraph wires as Italian searchlights engaged the raiders. The train reached Padua with lightings out and a grateful crowd cheered the royal party from the carriage windows.

Rescue Report On Glenn Springs Boquillas Bandit Raid
Colonel Sibley said Jesse Deemer the store keeper and Monroe Payne the Negro cook were carried across the border by bandits during the Glenn Springs and Boquillas raid twelve days ago. Major Langhorne seeks to overtake the bands after reporting from El Pine where Deemer and Payne were found. Officials view a successful chase as likely to end the expedition though failure could lead to recall. Four cavalry troops and a machine gun company under Colonel Sibley proved inadequate for extended operations. Deemer and Payne were left at Sl Pine by the retreating bandits.
