Causes of Charlestown fires blamed on builders and insurers

State police last night attributed the Charlestown freight and lumber yard fires to faulty construction and inadequate fire precautions, citing business and insurance interests as responsible for the massive loss totaling about half a million dollars from last week.

Battles Leave Over 500 Dead on Guaymas Front

In Nogales on May 12, reports from Colonel Juan Cabral arriving at Hermosillo describe over 600 killed after three days of heavy fighting above Guaymas. A trainload of oil and firewood was sent south to cremate the dead as General Obregon announces about 500 federal dead with 200 Huerta prisoners. Both sides reportedly executed commissioned officers captured.
