Fire destroys Chelsea barn after lantern accident

Jacob Finberg, 11, entered his father Morris Finberg’s barn at 22 Em street Chelsea to feed horses. He toppled a lantern, starting a blaze that gutted the stable owned by Fannie Gordon. Insurance covers $160 of the loss. a horse owned by Abraham Turltz valued at $10 died in the fire. Levine and Finberg losses amount to $5 each for hay and grain.

High School Cadets Parade Through Boston Streets

Nearly 2000 High School cadets will march in Boston today after a morning parade led by Major Benyon and Lieutenant Murray. State Militia Plans Extended Annual Tour of Duty

Massachusetts Militia officers met at Adjutant-General Dalton’s office to set encampment dates for the divisions. The Second Brigade will camp August 4 to 12 at South Framingham, the First Brigade August 20 to 26 at South Framingham, with other units assigned to Fort Warren New Bedford Hingham Boxford and the Prairie in September.
