Banker Ingersoll of Maine Arrested Over $300000 Deficit
Pioneer Maine banker and longtime bank treasurer Mr. Ingersoll faced arrest after the bank's August 12 1910 closure revealed a deficiency exceeding $300000. He was indicted on four counts with two dropped and sentenced January 13 1911 to two years. Counsel argued Western securities losses of $197000 were hidden by him and that the $300 embezzlement was the sole charge with no personal gain.
