Partial identification of a brother of a member of East Boston’s alleged safe cracking gang linked to a poolroom sighting at Edward McKenzie’s Winchester bowling alley hours before the murder of Ralph W. Brewster at Boston and Maine station. Investigation continues into gang activities.

Neeley Johnson, 27, of Philadelphia, arrested after a late night attempt to break into Dr. George K. Sabiné’s Irving Street Brookline residence. Officers pursued him, briefly linking him to the “Lone Wolf” burglar terrorizing Brookline and Cambridge. A second suspect escaped. another detained then released. Cambridge officers to identify the arrested man today.

John H. Patterson founder of the National Cash Register Company and longtime chairman of its board died suddenly today while traveling by train to Atlantic City. The Dayton Ohio native led NCR during its rise and had been prominent in business circles for decades.
