Police in Eastern New England arrest Neely Johnson, 22, of Philadelphia, the famed "Lone Wolf" burglar described as a master safecracker and human dynamo. He initially refused to name himself, then gave his Philadelphia address and was questioned before being allowed to sleep.
The House rejected by 85 to 108 a bill to extend tax exemptions under the family credit plan. The measure would raise exemptions beyond the current $50 for two children, arguing alignment with federal tax changes. Opponents warn it would reduce state revenue and deferred to a future session.
Mrs Samuel G Babcock wife of Suffragan Bishop Babcock of the Episcopal diocese of Massachusetts is critically ill at Phillips House Massachusetts General Hospital after an apopleptic shock suffered Saturday. She was found unconscious at the head of a staircase at 62 Chestnut Street by the bishop. After a slight Sunday improvement she remained in serious condition yesterday.
Lawrence Boucher of 24 Chandler street was arrested after a man and woman alerted Patrolman Keegan at St Eulalia's Church South Boston. Police found two long wires in his hat and he wore thieving tools. He had a prior similar conviction in 1913.
Mrs. Herbert Ainsworth in Goffstown New Hampshire reported an eagle attempting to carry off her bulldog on the veranda. The dog fought back and the eagle fled in fright, likely a bird from nearby Uncanoonue Mountain, a high southern peak.
The District Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church announced steps to provide for the widow and fatherless son of Rev. Charles Carlton, a Methodist preacher ruined by false accusations. Rev. William Snow of Presque Isle disclosed the action, aimed at vindicating his name and aiding the family.

Randolph halted trolley service to South Brain Tree after failing to pay Eastern Massachusetts Street Railway Co 4000 dollars, claimed due under last year's agreement. The company filed suit in Norfolk Superior Court. town officials say service did not meet the standard specified.
Two forest fires in Mashpee Falmouth and Canton burned hundreds of acres of timber and brushland destroying several houses and camps. A fierce gale fed the blazes which raged for hours as firefighters fought an unstoppable advance. by midnight the Mashpee Falmouth fire continued to burn.
Former Senator James H. Brennan of Charlestown told the City Council that Mayor Curley, via Francis Brennan of Ward 12, is keen on erecting a 2,000,000 gallon gasoline tank on Beach Street Charlestown. The council reaffirmed its refusal of the permit and noted the mayor could veto the action if he wishes.
Albert Clark, 32, of 147 Clark Avenue Chelsea, was knocked from his motorcycle by a Dudley street car of the Boston Elevated on Massachusetts Avenue. He was taken to City Hospital in the Back Bay police station ambulance and kept there for treatment.
