Murder of Nellie Sturtevant Shocks Medford Community
Medford police weigh a carefully planned bank robbery motive as Nellie Sturtevant is shot at her home. They believe the killer knew Sturtevant’s routine, the bank meeting schedule, and local streets, and escaped on a bicycle. Witnesses describe a tall man in a soft hat seen near the Sturtevant property around 8 to 9 p.m. The Italian Lombardi is in custody but police doubt he acted alone or had the described intimate knowledge.
