New York May 6 Arthur P Myers War Department civilian employee attached to a Boston disposal unit his brother Joseph L Myers formerly a lace importer and Michael A Kiely a federal inspector were arraigned in federal court. They pleaded not guilty Lieutenant Sydney W Neighbors also named in one indictment was reported arrested in Boston officials expect more defendants. The conspiracy allegedly netted 2700000 in profits. The trio allegedly provided bidding details and prices to Joseph L Myers who bid just enough to obtain goods to resell at profit. The indictment says profits would be shared after the officials left service and a corporation formed.

BASLE May 5 The unconditional surrender of the Hungarian communist government was confirmed by a Vienna despatch. The report from Vienna states that the Hungarian government has submitted to terms and following the surrender is expected to end hostilities. The Vienna message coincides with earlier Allied announcements on Hungary.
