Deliberations at army general headquarters France delayed awards for several deeds by Yankee Division members. Sergeant James J. Carty and Private Harold F. Proctor earned Distinguished Service Crosses for silencing a machine gun nest at St Mihiel after a perilous advance. An ambulance driver, wounded, received a DSC after initial denial. Delegates plan to oppose certain convention measures and note alleged bias against Yankee Division in awards.
