Foresters Seek Return of $386000 Securities
The Massachusetts Catholic Order of Foresters asked the Supreme Judicial Court for a writ of mandamus to compel State Treasurer Elmer E. Stevens to return securities worth over $386,000 held by the state. The order argues the treasurer’s custody ended December 31, 1911, and seeks returning the property to the order rather than keeping it in state custody.
