A Syracuse report states mobile engines may achieve 300 miles per gallon at a fuel cost of five to six cents. The engines would avoid freezing in cold weather and require no carburetor magnetos or spark plugs, potentially matching or reducing current gasoline engine costs.
A definite clue to the slayer of Ralph W. Brewster at Winchester has been sped up in New Hampshire. Thieves broke into 174 Forest Hills Street Jamaica Plain in broad daylight yesterday afternoon ransacking the house of diamonds jewelry and money valued at about 2000 dollars. Martin Finn left at 2 p m and returned before 7 p m to find the residence in disorder.
Breakin through a rear door allowed access to the house. A three alarm blaze in Fall River this morning wiped out $200,000 worth of cotton and two large warehouses. Five truck horses burned. Leroy Chase, his wife and three children were saved from the water front by Patrolman Hugh Golden and others after they swam to a fishing sloop.
