Mackerel Offered at Wharf as Sounding Trade Pauses
About 150 barrels of mackerel were offered for sale at a wharf yesterday morning after being received late Monday from Chincoteague via New York. Boston dealers had more mackerel to offer than New York wholesalers, while sixteen vessels supplied fresh groundfish as weather slowed fishing grounds and prices held steady. Arrivals from other areas included haddock and cod with varied box and barrel quantities and steady prices.
