Gustavus Franklin Swift, president of the Swift Packing Company, died at his Chicago home from internal hemorrhages after gall bladder surgery performed March 22. He began as a Massachusetts butcher, pioneered the refrigerated car, built a vast national and international network, and left a fortune estimated at 7 to 10 million dollars.
A historic note credits an eminent specialist with recommending Father John's Medicine as a tonic and body builder that makes flesh and strength. Lung Kuro is described as providing quick relief for consumption.

New Haven reports the death of Bow man Wsher a Yale University class of 19% member of the Yale Daily News editorial board and class orator. The tragedy spread gloom through the campus and classmates doubt financial distress was a motive.
The Marine National Bank of Buffalo president said a letter found with Herman Bowman Esher after he shot himself in New York did not reveal any cause for worry. Esher was a Yale University student and wrote to Mr Clement as chair man of a junior society asking for assistance.
Herman Bowman Esher, 20, son of Edward B. Esher of Chicago and grandson of Bishop Bowman, killed himself at the Manhattan Hotel in New York. He had earlier fallen from a Yale dormitory window and suffered injuries, with illness afterward. His death comes amid unclear motives and a family unable to explain the visit to New York.
