Lansing Diary Exposes His Peace Versus President Paris Plans

The diary reveals Mr. Lansing’s view of the 1918 peace talks, his early agreement with the heart of Article 10, and his clashes over secrecy and leadership at the Paris Conference. It details his stance on self determination, Shantung, and his shift from full ratification to opposition as the treaty unfolded.

Runaway Horse Captured By Bride-To-Be Drama

Mounted Patrolman William J. Lamb chased a frightened horse along Hemenway street and the Fenway yesterday afternoon. He returned the animal to a stable boy, only to learn it was bound for the home of his bride to be Miss Gertrude Marie Gaila. Lansing Critics Say He Misread Mexico Policy

The piece portrays Secretary of State Lansing as overestimating expert diplomacy while criticizing his approach to the Jenkins Mexico case during President Wilson’s illness. It notes Lansing’s note to Mexico appeared warlike, clashed with Wilson’s policy, and that Mexico’s secretary leveraged U.S. legal precedent. Even Senator Fall retreated from Lansing’s plan.

Crime at Discount on Easter

An odd Boston chronicle reports a quiet Easter weekend with police busy but not overwhelmed. It notes 11 drunks on Lagrange street and 11 brown tastes on Hanover street, plus a string of raids by Special Officers Sullivan and Kilroy. A hungry Wagner boy from Illinois was aided by detectives Spinney and Tessovero, while a damaged ward hospital scene and a gym injury wrap the piece in a humorous, human-toned read.

Lexington Golf Club cancels Patriots' Day open tourney

The Lexington Golf Club will open the 1921 season with a members' tournament on Patriots' Day April 19 on its nine hole Hill Street course. Crowds could not be accommodated for the Massachusetts Golf Association open tournament held there in past years, so the club will skip it this April 19 and instead consider a two day open event on June 16 and 17 and possibly a fall tournament.
