In Halifax March 26 the Parisian and Albano, each carrying 1800 aboard, escaped disaster after a dramatic 15 mile dash to shallow water. The Parisian lies flooded at dock with cargo and mail saved. the Albano sustained a bent bow and water in her fore peak. Admiralty actions and libel suits hinge on fault.
Fred M. Cooley of Oakland California aged 23 a Berkeley University graduate was found dead on Big Nose curve of the New York Central about 20 miles from Schenectady He worked in the General Electric testing department and had only recently arrived in the city
Police investigate a night shooting on the Island near Lewando plant in Watertown. Five shots from a heavy revolver echoed as residents heard women screams. Investigators suspect a nationalist clash or a possible tragedy involving a woman. Police dragged waters between Galen street bridge and the Island all night seeking clues.
