About ten days ago a man found unconscious on Pleasant street was taken to the station house by Dr. Mackie and Sheriff Capron. He identified himself as Charles Taft of Ellsworth Me and is said to be a notorious New England horse thief with several aliases. He was turned over to Detective Parker of Providence, sought for stealing a team.

Aupany N Y March 24 The Assembly railroad committee favorably reported two railroad commission bills. One prohibits heating cars by interior stoves or furnaces after Oct 1 for trains other than mixed trains. The other bans kerosene lighting after July 1 for the same railroads.

Officer Cogan arrested Stephen O'Brien, 316 North Street, after apprehending a burglar at Crowell’s earlier.
A chimney fire at 412 West Firs Street South Boston set off Box 142 at 1 07 PM. A small fire at 4 Mode Street East Boston prompted Box 162 at 7 51 AM with $10 damage, rekindled two hours later causing $100. A brief blaze at 501 Harrison Avenue was put out by Hook and Ladder 3 before any bell. Last night Box 18 reported a grass fire by the Mystic River marsh in Somerville.
