The Northwestern Miller reports a strong rise in water power last week with output at 114 880 barrels, 19 063 daily, and seventeen mills running. Six engines in use, many to be shut soon, as mills rush to maximize before the interstate commerce law April 5. Direct exports totaled 56 320 barrels. wheat receipts 883 120 bushels.
Provence March 23 Governor Wetmore of Rhode Island has accepted a Republican renomination. In a letter of acceptance he states he had decided not to be a candidate but agreed to allow his name to be brought before the convention as a sign of party unity and duty to the state.
Mme. Sealchi, a noted contralto, lies critically ill in a Chicago hospital. Her condition drew attention from music circles and local fans awaiting further medical updates.

A boarding house at the Colby mine in Bessemer Michigan burned at about 4 AM. Twelve laborers died in the blaze and several were seriously injured though none fatally. Names include John Sutton John Lyons Max Privedell Simon Rizzo Henry Saam JT Brassa J Brassa William Williams John Baal John Garvey James Ryan and one unknown. Bodies were heavily charred, hindering identification. No cause or origin of the fire is reported.

At William B. Whitcomb’s Valley street residence Medford Jennie W Whitcomb married Herbert A Lunt son of John A Lunt. Rev J W Wellman officiated in the presence of friends from Boston Somerville Malden and Medford Best man was B W Whitcomb. A reception followed and the couple will reside on Talbot street.
At 8:30 last evening George A. Moore of Salem, while intoxicated, fell overboard from the north side of Long wharf. He was rescued by Special Official Murphy and taken to Station 1 for care.

Subscribers to the New Haven Base Ball Club stock met and voted to form a team in the Connecticut league. Directors and officers were elected and delegates chosen for the league convention in New Haven next Friday. Players under negotiation are expected to be signed by Saturday.
Samuel L. Blaisdell of this city appointed to the vacant U S marshalship for the district. He is about 55 years old and has served as warden of the state prison and superintendent of the state farm along with other minor offices. He assumed his post today.
Duluth Minnesota reports S W Adrian of Minneapolis has laid claim to a large stretch of the city heartbed asserting it was deeded to his father by Indian chief Waconta who died in 1854. The land is valued at about 10 million dollars.
Peter J. Inglis, indicted for burglary and for shooting at two policemen, believed by Brooklyn police to be Weeks killer, was examined yesterday with no new findings. Police insist he shot at them. he was remanded for trial.
In Albany on March 28 the Assembly approved the high license bill with 70 ayes and 56 nays. Four Republicans Maurer Gallagher Reitz and C Smith opposed the measure.
Providence March 23 John Anderson once linked to the Emma Pearson murder case has been committed to the State insane asylum.
At the Democratic convention in Chiago on March 23 Carter H. Harrison was nominated for mayor by acclamation. He accepted the nomination.

Caiiaco reports hog slaughter for the year ending March 1 at 4 426 000 head a drop of 501 000 from the previous year. Cattle slaughter reached 1 608 000 head with 1 400 000 used for dressed beef, an increase of 200 000 over any prior year.
President Garrett informed Mayor Hodges that the anticipated railroad agreement has been consummated with only minor details left. Ives Stayner and Cincinnati Hamilton Dayton officials arrived by special car to discuss the road in Ravermorse Md and were closeted with Garrett.
