SQUIRE BOYCOTT BY STOCK YARDS BANKS IN CHICAGO

The Squire corporation faced a bank boycott in Chicago’s Union Stock Yards as Drovers National Bank and another yard bank stopped advances and refused deposits. Assignee H W Chaplin said the motive was to force recognition of a disputed claim now in U S Circuit Court. Graham murder trial nears end of first week in Bridgeport

In Ripley Tennessee Louis Rice, a Black man, was found hanging from a tree in the town this morning. The lynching followed a Lauderdale County Circuit Court trial in which Rice testified for a color person accused of murdering a white man named Goodrich.

Barge axle failure injures Grand Army men in Peabody

A barge carrying members of Union Post 50 to a C P Batchelder funeral in Peabody crossed tracks when its right hind axle broke. Several men were treated for cuts and bruises and at least a dozen were taken to a drug store for care. Past Commander John C. McDonald is thought to be internally injured. A M Copeland of Lynnfield broke a wrist. others sustained various injuries. The axle was cracked prior to the accident.
