Funeral for Rev Dr A S Gumbart Draws Large attendance

Nearly 3000 people paid last respects to Rev Dr A S Gumbart pastor of Dudley Street Baptist Church. The service at Forest Hills Cemetery followed private family rites at 97 Moreland Street Roxbury and a public viewing in the Dudley Street Church. Leaders from Baptist and Congregational churches gave prayers and brief addresses.

A close afternoon handball match at the Posse gymnasium saw the Posse team defeat Newton High School girls 10 to 6. Newton wore navy blue and orange, while Posse wore red and white. More than 300 spectators attended.

Patrolman Bernard J. McNally of Division 16 was found guilty yesterday by the Police Board of conduct unbecoming an officer and sentenced to forfeiture of thirty days pay.

Morris Kurt was arrested by Station 1 officers yesterday on charges of liquor sale and keeping liquor for sale at 17 Stillman arrest. Officers seized 175 gallons of wine during the operation.
