Boston Heating Company Seeks Major Capital Increase
The Boston Heating Company asked the mercantile affairs committee for leave to raise capital from 50 000 to as much as 2 000 000. Representatives cited expansion of piping and service to seven miles of streets, with about two and a half miles of main laid, needing more funds to finish the system and extend to Washington and Boylston streets. The system, patented by the National Heating Company, is said to reduce fire risk and costs, with no bonds issued beyond charter limits and a plan to pay royalties in money or stock. The company has about 50 Boston stockholders and plans to add capital from existing holdings to finance further work.
