In North Providence on March 21 a moving empty freight car on a spur track ran over two four year old girls Florence Turner and Phyllis Allerton who had crawled under the car believing it had stopped. They were crushed to death.

Two Women Arrested for Shoplifting in Downtown District

Rose Smith age 41 and Anna Spero age 33 were arrested yesterday afternoon in the shopping district on a charge of shoplifting. They were brought to headquarters, booked, and locked up for the night. The pair is charged with the larceny of shirts waists and collars valued at 28.70 from downtown department stores.
