The Right Rev. Denis O Callaghan D D pastor of St Augustine s South Boston was born March 17 1841 in Cork Ireland. He emigrated with his family in 1848 settling in Salem and later studied at St Charles College Maryland and St Mary s Seminary Baltimore. He helped found St Augustine s corner stone laid 1871 consecrated 1874 debt paid by 1884 and parochial residence hall and convent built. In 1898 he earned a Doctor of Divinity and in 1901 was named a Papal Domestic Prelate.
