The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court ordered a new appraisal of the late Mrs. Caroline W. Astor estate. The surrogate had rejected a $1,651,236 net valuation for paintings tapestries and rugs due to lack of expert input. Mrs Astor fled in 1908.
Giovanni Lamperti, famed vocal instructor aged 70, died in Berlin. He taught in Milan Paris and Dresden before moving to Berlin five years ago and trained many famous singers including Mme Sembrich.
